If you are applying for Eugene jobs, you are probably hard at work perfecting your resume. Theres no such thing as checking your resume too much, so take a look at it againn. No two resumes will or should be the same, but there are some basic steps that each one should follow. When the time comes to write, rewrite, or edit your resume, try to keep these pointers, courtesy of Daniel Scocco at Daily Writing Tips, in mind:
1. Have someone else proofread your resume: always have someone else take a look at whatever piece of writing you are producing; resumes are no exception. Try as we might, we just cant pick up on every slip up in our writing. Get another pair of eyes to spot the mistakes you miss.
2. Tailor each resume specifically for the job you are applying for: having just one generalized resume for every job application might save you time, but its not going to impress anybody. Have a unique resume and cover letter for each job application.
3. Not all work experience is relevant or required: dont bother listing or detailing jobs with no connection to the one you are applying for. When you are applying for a job at a retail outlet, you want to reflect any work experience that relates to retail.
4. Use the right keywords: digital database searching is the new normal for many HR departments, and the easiest way for them to find candidates online is by keyword searches. Look at Job descriptions and job ads to find out which words you need.
