Danone North America is hiring a Sanitation Lead at our So Delicious Dairy-Free food manufacturing facility, located in Springfield, OR!

Grave Shift: 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM (Friday-Monday)

Rate of Pay: $25.90 / Hour
**SIGN-ON BONUS**

This position is responsible for leading employees through organizing daily tasks and provides guidance and encouragement contributing to the production of optimum quality products through managing sanitation department tasks including chemical handling, following the sanitation schedule, restocking sanitation supplies, and other sanitation activities. Works with a team of employees and ensures proper standard operating procedures are being carried out and plant and team goals are being met. Follows all safety procedures as stated in GMP, safety standards, plant rules, and code of conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Effectively performs all the essential responsibilities and tasks of a Sanitation Associate and a Senior Sanitation Associate.
  • Maintains a safe working environment, functioning as a member of a cooperative team and encourages participation in leading safety work.
  • Responsible for ensuring production safety and quality standards are being followed by team members.
  • Complies with all company and safety policies and practices, including lockout-tagout.
  • Responsible to conduct self and encourage coworkers to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Company mission, values, and code of conduct, and company policies.
  • Validates CIP washes against Danone's Time, Action, Concentration, Temperature (TACT) specifications.
  • Coordinates the work of production personnel to meet daily business objectives.
  • Coaches and mentor's employees with multiple skill sets and personalities and participates in training assessments with supervisor.
  • Cooperatively works with cross-functional groups at all levels to solve problems.
  • Ensures all production documentation is complete and accurate and converts relevant information into daily shift report and effectively communicates information to all relevant parties.
  • Provides break relief and operates machinery when needed, as trained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Maintains a safe working environment, functioning as a member of a cooperative team and safely performs job duties.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, interprets, and understands English written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general food safety practices, including obtaining confined space entry certification.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, supporting coworkers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated application of basic mathematical skills such as add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages, and ratios.
  • Adheres to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) for working in a production food environment.
  • Demonstrated high degree of attention to detail and accuracy. Completes assigned tasks on time with minimal errors and waste.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning chemicals, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective cleaning buildings and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools (including their designs, uses, repair, and minor maintenance) of production/mix room equipment.
  • Suggests changes to increase production, improve quality, increase efficiency, and reduce or eliminate waste and enhance safety.
  • Ability to flex work schedule to support a 24x7 manufacturing plant, which may include working hours outside of a typical shift, including weekends as needed.
  • Works with a sense of urgency in varying temperature environments.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity for hand-packing product into multi-packs at the rate of 140-180 pieces per minute.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Continuously reaches, pushes/pulls; frequently twists; occasionally stoops/bends; intermittently crouches, climbs, and balances; uses hands for repetitive fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, simple grasping, and talks/ listens under noisy conditions. Visual acuity and taste to discern product variation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of material between 5-30-minute frequency.
  • Working conditions frequently includes a cool indoor food production environment and occasional freezer environment, and intermittent outdoor environment. Clean environment, requiring hand washing every time you go on the floor 20+/- times a day.
  • The employee is exposed to both a general office environment where the noise level is usually moderate and manufacturing environment where noise levels are moderate to high. This environment includes moving mechanical parts, vibration, heights, and confined spaces, cold/hot temperatures, water, food waste, sanitation chemicals, ingredient dust/smells, noise, wet floors, climbing ladders, and potentially slippery conditions.

Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). About You

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Six months of demonstrated work experience that involves accuracy, dependability, and teamwork, ideally in food production.
  • Company certified in the use of electric and manual pallet jacks.
  • Company certified in the use of a forklift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - PREFERRED
  • Basic computer skills (keyboarding, MS Office).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting basic problems.
