Our Athletics Department is seeking to hire a dynamic leader to assist in our Men's Basketball program.

* Beyond the required education and experience instructors must have a passion for what they teach, and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.

* No faculty part-time seniority is accrued in coaching assignments or any sports-specific physical education class that is directly sport-related.

Coaching hours vary and my include days, evenings, weekends, travel and other hours as required by the coaching schedule.

Candidates must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including extensive travel, nights and weekends.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:

Two (2) years of player experience at the collegiate level, or four (4) years of experience at the high school level or equivalent.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

* Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within one (1) month of hire.

* A current and valid driver's license and the ability to pass the online driving test for Oregon Motor Pool and Lane Motor Pool within one (1) month of hire.

Position Purpose:

To provide a successful, high quality and competitive experience for the student-athletes as it relates to the goals of the department and college. Assistant coaching responsibilities will include both pre-season, in-season, post-season, and out-of-season responsibilities.

Assist in developing a competitive intercollegiate Women's Basketball program that reflects Lane's Vision, Mission, and Values while demonstrating a strong work ethic, high levels of integrity and honesty.

Essential Functions:

* Assistant coaching responsibilities include both pre-season, in-season, post-season and out of season responsibilities.

* Assist with coaching, recruiting, training, supervising student-athletes, maintaining a working knowledge of the rules governing the sport to be coached, maintaining statistics, maintaining athletic equipment, facilities and supplies.

* Provide leadership in the personal, athletic and academic development of student-athletes.

* Assist the Head Coach with fund-raising activities.

* Ensure adherence to all Lane Community College Athletics Department, Northwest Athletic Conference, and other regulatory agencies rules, policies and procedures by the programs student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

* Develop and implement sport strategy, position assignments and plan practice/training sessions upon request.

* Work cooperatively with the Head Coach and support staff to ensure proper scheduling, gym usage and care for facilities.

* Ensure and actively promote positive reinforcement and encouragement.

* Participate and work collaboratively and respectfully in a team environment.

* Develop and apply skill assessments and evaluation methods.

* Confer with students on athletic evaluation results.

* Comply with Oregon Department of Motor Vehicle laws while driving college van/vehicles to and from events; both in the evening and daytime.

* Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.

* Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:

Reports to the Dean of Health Professions, Health, Physical Education and Athletics and works under the general supervision of the Athletic Director.
