SERVER

Who you are:

Server provides table service to residents, staff, and guests by taking orders for food and beverages, delivering orders to the table, and ensuring that residents, staff, and guests have a pleasant dining experience. The Server will prepare and serve specialty coffee, other beverages, and select food items to residents, staff, and guests.

What you will do:

  • Greets residents as they are seated at the table; ensures the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided.
  • Distributes menus and presents the daily specials.
  • Answers questions regarding the menu.
  • Takes food and beverage orders and delivers them to the kitchen.
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to residents.
  • Ensures that food is prepared correctly and to everyone's' satisfaction; returns incorrect or improperly cooked orders to kitchen.
  • Collects plates and clears the table as soon as the meals have been finished.
  • Assists with other kitchen tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.
  • Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to all correctly and customizes orders as requested.
  • Serves prepared foods and baked goods.
  • Ensures that all service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
  • Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
  • Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to prepare and serve a wide range of foods skillfully.
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress.
  • Ability to recognize needs and help others without prompting.
  • Ability to relate well with other employees and residents of the facility.
  • Is neat, clean and works safely.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance record; notifies supervisor if late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies; follows work schedule.
  • Has ability to spend long period on feet.
  • Abides by established policies and procedures of Community. Looks for ways to improve Community functioning.
  • Respects resident rights and adheres to Community philosophy of resident care.
  • Organizes and utilizes time appropriately; sets priorities to accomplish assigned tasks.

Training and Experience:
  • Food Handler Certification (Preferred)
  • Experience in dealing with elderly and their dietary needs.
  • Experience in a similar position with a long term or related facility.

Universal Precautions: Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is unlikely.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 40-50 pounds regularly during work hours (heavy work level)

Salary Description

$17.50 to $19 /hour
