Overview

The Product Design Engineer, reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, prepares working drawings of recycling equipment, and other design information for systems and retrofits. This positions primary responsibility will be creating 3D models of equipment and the associated production drawings in accordance with established standards. This position interfaces with project engineers, design engineers, designers and others as needed.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed design drawings and specifications for recycling equipment using 3D modeling software. Layout, correctly dimension, and draw schematic, orthographic, or auxiliary views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines
• Coordinate with team members to design, layout or detail components and systems, with a focus on the efficient use of space, material and resources
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components using 3D modeling software and other standard design tools
• Review equipment design requirements and produce equipment drawings based on standard component designs and proven engineering principles
• Create assembly drawings with the necessary details, instructions, and comments
• Verify structural integrity of designs based on material selection
• Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with two years of demonstrated mechanical design experience
• Demonstrated experience designing industrial equipment with 3D modeling software required
• Experience working with AutoDesk Inventor a plus
• Highly organized, self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
• In depth knowledge of industrial equipment design and safety regulations is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing to various audiences
• Ability to function in a project-based work environment/industry
