As a Shipping Associate you will take on various tasks that are required to make the shipping process run smoothly. You will be responsible for preparing and sending outgoing shipments of products and materials to customers and vendors. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to timely processing of orders to ensure customer satisfaction while also gaining operational efficiency. The shipper will work closely with the pick and packer staff, managers and the customer service team.
Responsibilities & Duties
Packaging and Preparing:
• Interpreting packing slips and invoices to match inventory when packaging items to be shipped.
• Prepare and package products for shipment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company standards.
Order Fulfillment:
• Label packages correctly and ensure they are ready for dispatch.
• Use in-house software systems to process and ship orders internationally and within the states.
Quality Control:
• Inspect products for damage, defects, or missing items before and during the fulfillment process.
• Ensure that all products meet quality standards before they are shipped.
Safety Compliance:
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Participate in safety training sessions and stay updated on safety best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, order fulfillment, and shipping details.
• Report any discrepancies, damages, or issues to the supervisor.
Continuous Improvement:
• Suggest and implement improvements to shipping processes to enhance efficiency.
• Stay updated with best practices and new technologies in shipping operations.
Qualifications, Skills, & Attributes
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, use computer systems for inventory management and order processing and work with spreadsheets in Excel is required.
• Prior experience working in a shipping, warehouse or fulfillment environment and familiarity with basic warehouse operations and equipment is preferred.
Technical Skills
• Process Management: Understanding of shipping methods and carriers and their procedures.
• Computer Skills: Ability to read shipping order and labels and use computer systems and software in place to input orders and track inventory.
Soft Skills
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing and packing orders to ensure correct items are selected.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain a tidy and organized workspace, manage multiple tasks, and keep track of inventory.
• Time Management: Efficiently manage time to meet deadlines and productivity.
• Communication: Clear and effective communication with team members and supervisors.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other warehouse staff and departments to achieve common goals.
