Laboratory Supervisor
Position Details:
Hourly Base Rate: $39.78 - $55.70
Shift: Day Shift
Shift Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week, 8-hour shifts

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Medical Director in daily operational oversight.
Provide technical support to staff in all sections of the laboratory as needed.
Coordinate, organize, and monitor daily workflow to ensure timely and accurate testing.
Ensure accurate and compliant billing practices.
Maintain a positive work environment focused on employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and training laboratory personnel.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement progressive discipline when necessary.
Monitor staff scheduling to maintain adequate coverage while supporting work-life balance.
Evaluate and revise procedures, policies, and processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Support and assess compliance with CLIA, CAP, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
Assist with quality assurance, quality control, and competency assessment programs.
Participate in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team-based decision-making.
Provide oversight of Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) programs as applicable.
Contribute to basic financial evaluations, budgeting considerations, and resource planning.
Education & Licensing Requirements
Baccalaureate degree or higher required.
MLS(ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
Meets CLIA educational requirements for general supervisor for moderate and high complexity testing.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in all major areas of laboratory medicine.
Preferred: one (1) year of laboratory supervisory experience.
Qualifications & Skills
Preferred: experience with POCT coordination or oversight.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to evaluate and improve procedures, policies, and workflows.
Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and evaluate staff.
Skilled in conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and team-based problem-solving.
Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude under stress.
Competence in laboratory technologist-level testing across multiple areas.
Understanding of medical necessity rules, billing compliance, and basic financial considerations.
Working knowledge of The Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.
