We are seeking outstandingcandidates for the position of Substitute Bilingual Educational Assistant to work within the hours of M-F 7:30am-3:30pm; shifts range from 3 hpd to 7.75 hpd. Substitute Bilingual Educational Assistants work on-call or can plan their schedule in advance with our state-of-the-art software, Frontline.

Individuals hired into this position may also, from time to time, be called upon to serve as an interpreter or translator in support of the District and families needing these services.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents;
• Able to take initiative and use good judgment;
• Ability to work be flexible and adaptable to different learning environments;
• Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, policies and procedures;
• Ability to meet federal requirement pertaining to reading, writing and mathematics (proof of Associates degree or higher, or ability to pass the academic assessment offered by the District);
• Knowledge of clerical and office procedures and equipment (occasionally answer phones, provide customer service, make copies, etc.);
• Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity;
• Bilingual/bi-cultural individuals are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Associates degree or higher (attach diploma); OR
• Completion of two years post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units (attach transcripts); OR
• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) AND
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality, and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment or para-professional certificate program, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, as appropriate, reading/language arts, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration & Other Requirements

• Ability to obtain and hold a valid First Aid/CPR card and pass Safe Schools training modules as assigned.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
