Visitor Services Specialist
About Us

The Role
We're looking for a Visitor Services Specialist who enjoys connecting with people and helping them make the most of their time in our region. This role is the welcoming face of Travel Lane County, meeting visitors at the right moment with the right information to shape meaningful, memorable experiences.
You'll work directly with visitors and residents through our Visitor Center, outreach events and phone/email inquiries to provide trip planning support, destination guidance and access to recreation and experiences that encourage longer stays and deeper exploration across Lane County. In doing so, you'll help support local businesses and communities throughout the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You thrive in people-facing environments.
You're comfortable welcoming a wide range of visitors and listening to what they're looking for. You offer thoughtful, personalized guidance that helps them have a great experience. You're comfortable shifting between assisting visitors and completing other tasks, and you're comfortable working independently during solo shifts.
You understand the value of place.
You enjoy learning about local communities, recreation opportunities, events and seasonal experiences. You share that knowledge in a way that supports businesses large and small across the county. You recognize that each visitor interaction is an opportunity to create positive impact.
You guide people toward meaningful experiences.
You have a knack for meeting people where they are. You offer information that turns a good visit into a great one and encourages visitors to stay longer or explore more of the region. You're able to do this while balancing multiple priorities throughout a shift.
You enjoy variety and movement.
You're comfortable working in a public-facing Visitor Center and supporting outreach events throughout the region. You're flexible with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidays. You understand that visitor traffic may ebb and flow throughout a shift.
You're organized and dependable.
You take pride in keeping things running smoothly through strong organization and follow-through. You manage tasks like tracking visitor interactions, maintaining brochures and materials, processing transactions and supporting basic data and content updates. You stay focused and self-directed during both high-traffic times and quieter moments, including during solo shifts.
You're service-minded and community-oriented.
You approach your work with care and professionalism, always prioritizing the visitor experience. When visitor traffic is lighter, you use that time thoughtfully to complete administrative work. Your work supports the team and strengthens the overall visitor experience.
What to Expect
You'll be part of a team that values collaboration, learning and shared purpose. Your primary work location will be the Visitor Center at the 5th Street Market Alley, with additional time spent supporting outreach events throughout Lane County and occasional work at our downtown Eugene office as needed.
Many Visitor Center shifts are worked independently, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of the space while serving as the primary point of contact for visitors. Visitor traffic may vary throughout the day, and you'll balance welcoming and assisting visitors with completing administrative and operational tasks during quieter periods.
Your primary focus will be delivering exceptional visitor services, helping people plan trips, access recreation opportunities and permits, discover events and connect with experiences that enhance their stay. You'll also support office operations, permit transactions, event calendar content updates, and visitor data tracking that help the organization understand and improve how we serve our guests.
This is hands-on, people-centered work that keeps you closely connected to the real-world impact of tourism on our communities and the businesses that call Lane County home.
