About Us

The Cat Sanctuary is a nonprofit rescue in Eugene, Oregon dedicated to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), rehabilitation, and lifelong sanctuary for cats who need extra care. We specialize in seniors, special-needs cats, ferals, and those who need a safe place to land. Our mission is to protect and uplift the most vulnerable cats in our community.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and creative Crowdfunding Manager (Volunteer) to take the lead on building and guiding our new crowdfunding program. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys digital communication, storytelling, and strategy. You'll be the first member of our crowdfunding team, helping us lay the foundation for an impactful fundraising effort that will grow over time.

You won't be alone—we're actively recruiting additional crowdfunding and fundraising volunteers, and you'll play a part in shaping how the team develops.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and oversee online crowdfunding campaigns (GoFundMe, Facebook Fundraisers, Patreon, etc.)
  • Write compelling campaign content and updates that highlight our rescue stories and urgent medical needs
  • Coordinate with our Volunteer Coordinator, media team, and other departments to gather information, photos, and updates
  • Track campaign performance, troubleshoot challenges, and propose creative strategies for engagement
  • Help identify upcoming needs or special projects that would benefit from crowdfunding
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding future crowdfunding team members as the program expands
  • Maintain communication with donors through campaign comments, updates, and thank-you messages

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with crowdfunding or digital fundraising platforms (or willingness to learn)
  • Creative thinker with an eye for emotional storytelling
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Comfortable taking initiative and shaping a new program
  • Passion for helping cats and supporting animal welfare work

Time Commitment

Flexible—approximately 2–5 hours per week, depending on campaign activity. Can be fully remote.

What This Role Offers

  • Leadership experience in a nonprofit setting
  • A chance to build and shape a brand-new crowdfunding program
  • Direct impact on vet bills, emergency rescues, supplies, and sanctuary care
  • Supportive volunteer community and opportunities for collaboration
  • Portfolio pieces for anyone interested in marketing, communications, or nonprofit development
