Program Description
The adult restorative justice program responds to harms that happen within the community. Our work is anchored in supporting clients moving forward, setting goals, and creating plans for repair. In partnership with the Lane County District Attorney, defendants who plead into this program go through a series of dialogues. In these dialogues, we collaboratively explore what full accountability means for their situation. Our program aims to address needs and impacts while gathering community feedback. This program has an excellent track record of diverting individuals away from sentencing and toward meaningful community integration. RJ amplifies the voices of victims and harmed parties, giving them a strong voice in responding to how harm is repaired.
The Center for Dialogue and Resolution manages a robust Restorative Justice (RJ) Program as part of its array of dispute resolution and community justice services. Funded almost entirely by a grant from the Criminal Justice Commission, our Adult Restorative Justice (ARJ) Diversion program receives referrals from the Lane County DA's office, as well as community partners. In addition, our RJ program works with youth interfacing with Juvenile Courts to pursue a similar Diversion process.
Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications as described in the job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be the one who comes from a less traditional background. In fact, life experiences can be at least as important a factor in effective fulfillment of this role than formal training. We would encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of our qualifications described. If you are unsure whether you meet the qualifications of this position, or how this would be determined, please feel free to contact the Restorative Justice Program Manager, Kelli Williamson: ...@lanecdr.com to discuss your application.
