  2026-05-31     Arena     Springfield,OR
Description:

Friends Of Devon Lawson: Field Director

We are seeking a motivated Field Director to lead voter engagement efforts for Devon Lawson's campaign. This part-time role will manage direct voter contact to identify supporters, build grassroots momentum, and drive turnout on election day. The ideal candidate has experience in field organizing for elections or advocacy, with a passion for community mobilization in environmental causes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage voter contact programs, including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, text campaigns, and tabling at community events in key zones like rural Lane County areas (e.g., Creswell, Veneta, and Junction City).
  • Develop and execute GOTV (Get Out The Vote) operations, targeting high-potential voters to boost overall turnout in historically low-participation districts.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and canvass teams to ensure effective, data-driven outreach.
  • Use voter data tools (e.g., VAN, PDI) to track contacts, identify supporters, and report metrics to the campaign manager for strategy adjustments.
  • Coordinate field efforts with communications and digital teams to align messaging on conservation issues like water quality and soil health.
  • Focus on engaging diverse communities, including rural residents, farmers, and environmental advocates, to build broad support for Devon's platform.
  • Monitor progress toward turnout goals and adapt tactics in real-time during peak periods.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of experience in field organizing for political campaigns, issue advocacy, or community mobilization (e.g., canvassing, GOTV).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage teams and engage voters directly.
  • Familiarity with voter databases, mapping tools, and Oregon's vote-by-mail system.
  • Knowledge of Lane County geography and demographics, especially rural areas, is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with physical demands of fieldwork.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and progressive environmental values; experience in youth or grassroots movements preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in political science, community organizing, or related field is a plus.

This role is essential for turning community support into votes and making a real difference in local conservation.

This role is hybrid, with significant in-person requirements for fieldwork in Lane County, Oregon. Strong preference for candidates based in or near the Eugene-Springfield area to lead canvassing and events in rural zones. Remote work possible for planning/data tasks; no dedicated office space.
