A Day in the Life of the Structural & Civil Engineer

In this role, you'll help design, analyze, and manage a wide range of civil engineering and structural engineering projects across Eugene, OR and surrounding Pacific Northwest communities. Projects may include commercial developments, public infrastructure improvements, site development, structural systems, transportation-related improvements, and municipal engineering initiatives that directly impact the communities where people live and work.

You'll collaborate closely with engineers, surveyors, planners, architects, contractors, and public agencies to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions. Your work will support projects that align with Oregon building codes, seismic design standards, environmental regulations, and Pacific Northwest construction requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, EIT, or PE licensed engineer looking to grow within a respected Oregon engineering firm while contributing to meaningful infrastructure and development projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing structural and civil engineering designs using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Performing engineering calculations for structural stability, safety, and code compliance, including seismic analysis for Oregon projects
  • Designing site development and infrastructure improvements for commercial, municipal, and public works projects
  • Evaluating construction materials and methods for efficiency, durability, and regional environmental conditions
  • Managing engineering projects from concept through construction completion while maintaining schedules and budgets
  • Coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies throughout Oregon
  • Conducting field visits and site inspections to ensure compliance with engineering plans and safety standards
  • Ensuring adherence to Oregon building codes, permitting requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Assisting with construction administration, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and troubleshooting field issues
  • Preparing technical reports, engineering calculations, proposals, and project documentation

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • Oregon Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification actively pursuing PE licensure
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, structural systems, construction materials, and safety standards
  • Experience managing engineering projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to review construction documents, shop drawings, and technical submittals
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Oregon permitting processes, seismic requirements, and Pacific Northwest environmental considerations preferred
  • Experience with municipal, commercial, infrastructure, or land development projects is a plus
