At The Cat Sanctuary (TCS), we believe every cat and kitten deserves safety, compassion, and a chance to thrive. In Lane County (largely Eugene and Springfield), too many cats are left vulnerable to hardship, illness, and neglect. Our mission is to change that story. Through our physical sanctuary and community-based programs, we step in where help is needed most—providing education, advocacy, and essential services, and uniting rescue groups and caring individuals. By fostering collaboration and compassion, we are building a more humane future for cats and kittens throughout Lane County, Oregon.
Foster Parenting
Location: Your home in the Eugene/Springfield area | Time Commitment: Flexible, typically 4–8 weeks per cat or litter – can be up to 16 weeks. Per day - cleaning, feeding & socializing - one hour minimum - more for socializing.
Fostering is one of the most important things you can do for a cat in need. As a foster parent, you open your home to a cat or kitten — whether they're recovering from illness or surgery, building social skills, or simply waiting for their forever family — providing the safe, loving environment that a shelter simply cannot replicate. Our foster program a critical part of our rescue, and without dedicated foster families, we simply cannot save as many lives.
As a foster, you will provide daily care, including feeding, litter maintenance, medication administration if needed, and gentle socialization. You'll communicate regularly with our Foster Coordinator, complete health check-ins, and take photos and notes to help match your foster cat to the right adoptive home. All food, supplies, and veterinary care are provided by the organization. No prior experience is required — (love for cats or kittens is a must) - just a compassionate heart, a stable home environment, and a willingness to learn. Training and ongoing support are provided.
