JOB TITLE:  MACHINIST

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  SHOP FOREMAN

JOB SUMMARY:     

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to manufacture/modify and/or repair precision parts and mechanical assemblies.

WORK PERFORMED: 

Calculate & record dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers.

Machine and or fabricate mechanical assemblies using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders and plating equipment.

Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.

Examine parts, blueprints/drawings to determine methods of operation to be used in manufacture/modification or repair of mechanical assemblies.

Perform welding operations, including setup and use of TIG, torch and stick welders.

Adhere to all equipment safety procedures and wear protective gear. Ex: Eye and ear protections, use of safety guards, etc.

Requisition all equipment and tools for machine department through supervisor.                         

Maintain all machine shop tools and machines according to manufacture specifications. 

Keep work area orderly and clean.

Work with Customer Service to accurately quote time and materials required to complete machining tasks to maximize quality and profit.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Preferred minimum level of education/experience:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Five years of experience in all phases of machine work.                                  

Ability to work well with others in a team effort and promote professional company image with customers and vendors.
