Salary: $95,000–$100,000 DOE

Help build the financial systems that support meaningful opportunities for youth and young adults. Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) has helped young people learn, grow, and succeed through conservation service, education, and workforce development.

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead our Finance Department, strengthen accounting systems and procedures, and provide reliable financial information for organizational decisions. Reporting to the VP of Administration & Systems, this position oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and separate budgets for NYC and Twin Rivers Charter School.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, reconciliations, financial close, and reporting.
• Improve financial systems, document procedures, and strengthen internal controls and accountability.
• Coordinate budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial analysis for NYC and Twin Rivers Charter School.
• Oversee grant and contract accounting, audit preparation, and financial compliance.
• Partner with organizational leaders and the Board`s Finance Committee to support planning and responsible stewardship of resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor`s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Eight or more years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience, including staff supervision and accounting operations.
• Demonstrated success improving financial records, systems, controls, and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit processes, along with QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
• Clear communication, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership approach.

Nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred. CPA, CMA, or an advanced degree and experience with financial planning and forecasting are preferred.
