Administrative Assistant / Backup Receptionist
Public Defender Services of Lane County is hiring an administrative assistant/backup receptionist to join our team. PDSLC is a non-profit public defender’s office that believes in client-centered representation and leading by example as we try to make a difference for our clients.
Administrative Assistant Duties
The admin team is responsible for opening new client files, handling thousands of pages of discovery weekly, and efficiently and accurately transmitting information from the State to our attorneys and clients. This work is fast-paced, high-volume, requires a steady attention to detail and the ability to quickly learn our proprietary systems. You’ll be joining a team of four other administrative professionals in an office environment of 46 support staff and trial attorneys.

Backup Receptionist Duties
The backup receptionist is responsible for supplementing the work of our primary front desk receptionist and requires the ability to smoothly transition from admin tasks to front desk coverage when required. This primarily includes coverage for breaks and leave time but may also require working in tandem with the receptionist as office needs change. It is essential that the receptionist exhibit a professional, client-centered demeanor and treat everyone who calls or visits with respect and dignity. Excellent phone skills are a must, as is the ability to work under pressure and triage requests.

Both the administrative assistant and backup receptionist roles of this position require the ability to sit for a prolonged period of time and extensive data entry. Lifting and/or moving materials as necessary (files, supplies and recycling) is required. This position does not qualify for remote work.
