ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC), a non-profit organization, has given tens of thousands of youths and young adults opportunities to learn, grow, and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. More importantly, these young people gain skills needed to become economically and socially self-sufficient, benefit their communities as citizen stewards, and recognize that they can make a positive difference. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC).

POSITION SUMMARY

Accounts Receivable works closely with NYC’s Finance team. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented person who is able to communicate clearly and work independently. A flexible personality and willingness to work as a member of the NYC team is a necessity.

POSITION DETAILS

Department Supervision and collaborations This position is supervised by Finance Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with program supervisors and Grants and Agreements Officer to review/verify Billing Details & prepare invoices in a timely manner.
    • Work with Recruitment Dept. to track program fees and other sales.
    • Set up new projects in QuickBooks, so that budget and invoicing can be tracked.
    • Accurately apply customer payments to individual A/R accounts
    • Monitor and manage the accounts receivable aging.
    • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
    • Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
    • Prepare bank deposits.
    • Assist with tracking grants and donations.
    • Process credit cards payments
    • Additional responsibilities include, answering phone calls, responding to information requests, organizing files, supporting ongoing operations, and other duties and assignments as required.

Position Qualifications & Certifications

    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
    • Regular attendance and punctuality.
    • Minimum two years of college education can be substituted with experience.
    • Reliable and self-motivated.
    • Exceptional communication skills.
    • Minimum two years’ experience in full cycle bookkeeping, with an emphasis on Accounts Receivable.
    • Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, accounting databases and the ability to learn new applications and database systems.
    • Peachtree Complete is a plus.
    • Non-Profit experience preferred.

Terms of Employment

This is a full time, hourly (non-exempt) position. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM; with periodic long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities seasonally.
